⌚Working hours

At Fabric, we’re remote, but semi-synchronous – as it’s easier to get things done quickly when people are simultaneously highly available and online.

To do this, we have a set of core working hours (10am-2pm UTC) to ensure a minimum amount of guaranteed overlap. How you structure the remainder of your time is up to you, but we are a small team so we expect everyone to be an owner and self-directed.

Daily hours

We're a startup with huge ambitions, and so we care about results and accountability more than anything else. We succeed by pulling together and building something great, which does sometimes mean pushing hard and prioritising results over precisely finishing the day at a certain time. As a team, we show up in an emergency, or if we need to hit a particular deadline.

Whilst we don't care about specific hours on a specific day, as a guideline, a "good day of work" is about 9 solid hours of high quality effort.

Communicating availability

If you need to dash out to do something during core hours/during an ongoing conversation, it's best practice to let people know as a matter of courtesy – this avoids people waiting on you for information and being blocked by an uncommunicated drop in availability and response time. A quick message in the Random channel can let people know to work around you in the meantime.
